Woody Joe was found in 2002, the history of model can be track back to Changmu’s father’s generation which is before WW II.
“My father works in Tokyo. He is a taxi driver. Later, the company closed down and came to Shizuoka to become a bus driver. ”
My father’s career experience has nothing to do with the model, but it is in such a family that he has stepped into the model world steadily.
At that time, wooden models were mostly used as teaching materials in schools. At that time, there was a great demand for models. Sooner, we met an opportunity to provide wooden raw materials to model manufacturers, which also became an opportunity for us to enter the model industry.
If we trace the origin of the famous plastic model manufacturers, most of them are wooden model manufacturers from the past.
And supports behind the back are always distributed by the Changmu family.
In this historical background, even in Shizuoka’s model manufacturers, woody Joe also plays an important role.
In Shizuoka’s model industry, the relationship between various manufacturers is very kind, we often invite each other to come to our home.
According to statistics, there are dozens of model manufacturers in Shizuoka. We have built a model market through mutual discussion and honing, and because of this, we are all like friends in arms.
Until 2004, things have changed.
I decided to start my own business to build woody Joe. The main reason is that the model of Shizuoka, the old factory, Jinjing (Science of the old and modern wells), collapsed.
Mr. Mitsui has a large number of loyal fans, who hope to have a manufacturer to take over the stall of Mitsui. If we don’t pick up the offer, then these fans can only buy from Europe or North America. If we don’t stand out at this time, the Japanese craftsmen who make wooden models will disappear. With this in mind, I started my current career
Of course, this has also aroused strong opposition from people around us.
At that time, Mr. Mitsui’s wooden model had about 8 upstream manufacturers, who cooperated to complete the model manufacturing. When Mr. Mitsui’s company went bankrupt, everyone was shocked. When I indicated that I would take over the stall, someone stopped me and said to me, “don’t do this, the products made by the bankrupt company will only have the same result in the end.” But at that time, I was so young and vigorous that I just took over (laughter).
Mr. Chang Mu, who gave such a hearty laugh, did not simply take over the original company’s products and continue to produce them. In the early stage, we introduced the latest technologies and equipment, such as laser cutting machine, to upgrade the products of Mitsui.
Mr. Chang Mu, a seemingly reckless challenge, saved the wooden model produced in Japan.
At the end of the article, I hope you can write down your hope for making wooden model.
In my difficult period, I survived under the support of the cooperative company and customers. Because of this, I am grateful for the present environment, and I will continue to offer you more interesting and high-quality products in the future.
This is the extraordinary 70 years that Mr. Chang Mu and the model industry have gone through together.
In the future, woody Joe will also strive to spread the charm of “evergreen wood” to all parts of the world.
