FuelMe43 RAUH-Welt BEGRIFF RWB 993 “Royal Ocean” Iris Blue
Canada No.1 Powered By Peter Chutter
After two years, we finally completed this project as wished.
At the beginning of the brand is established, RWB series products is always been one of our main products lines. Today, we can finally meet the “ROYAL OCEAN”.
Back in 2017, we set up many projects for the RWB 993, comparing with other types of cars, this car really cudgeled our brain. The Painting is only one of the difficulties, but the most difficulty is to find the owner. Everyone who is fascinated with vehicles all have extraordinary story. The story we are about to tell you today is not an exception.
At the 2018 Tokyo Auto Salon live, we seek for news regarding to “ROYAL OCEAN” from the international president Mr. Ichiraku in great expectation. However, we only get the unsatisfied answer. I always believe in fate, if the fate do not lead us to him, it only profs that we are not ready yet.
In the third quarter of 2018, we finished the project of ARMY GIRL with three versions. This accomplishment created quite a stir in the modified vehicle and the model cars community. I met a lot of people who loves vehicle during that time. I indistinctly caught a glimpse of the fancy shape of the “ROYAL OCEAN” by one photo sharing. That’s right! That is the one I’m looking for ! I contacted him immediately but did not get the response.
But for me, I did not give up on it, because I already have overcame the first obstacle.By searching through some clues, we learned that the owner of this car is from Canada, who is aged 50s-60s.
We still not got any response with several rounds of contacts, that is quit disappointing.
One day I was idle. When I looked up the information on the Internet, I came across the theory of “Six Degrees Separation Theory” , which seemed absurd. But I tried to apply this theory to finding people. In the end, I succeeded! Let me find Peter! There will be no more than five people between you and any stranger, that is to say, you can know any stranger by five people at most. According to this theory, there are only five people between you and any person in the world, regardless of the country, race or color of the other person.
Peter is very enthusiastic. When he learned that we were going to modify his car, he immediately provides us with a lot of information. Although there is no vector file in the painting part, as long as there are enough photos, it is not a problem for us to restore a car.
We tentatively decided to set this product in double-signature version at the beginning, because I am not sure if I can actually find the owner. Now that I have finished my mission, I can officially announce to you that FuelMe’s fourth double-signature product has been achieved.
Enter Peter’s car world
I have a passion for cars and speed.
In the mid-70’s I purchased my first car, a 1967 MG Midget and promptly blew the1275 cc engine. This became my first modified car after I replaced the engine with a rotary engine from a Mazda RX4 enhanced with an 840 cfm Holley carb, manifold and exhaust from Racing Beat in California. It was scary fast… My next car was a 2-door Toyota Corolla with fender flares and a duck tale…
45 years later my passion for cars and speed continues and my daily drivers include a modified Lamborghini LP560-4 gated manual 620 HP, a 1965 Shelby Cobra Daytona Coupe 475 HP, a modified 2014 Lotus Evora S, a very fast modded Volkswagen Gulf R Stage 3 Tune and a stock 1970 AAR ‘Cuda. And, of course, my favourite the 1995 Porsche 993 Coupe – RWB Canada #1 – “Royal Ocean”.
The storey of Royal Ocean begins in the 1970’s with my love of the speed and style of the 911 RSR race car. I was able to purchase an Iris Blue Porsche 993 which I modded mechanically and tracked locally.
But all of my passions came together when my son Morgan brought to my attention in September of 2012 the video of “The Making of RWB Bangkok” – the first RWB outside of Japan. I immediately admired Nakai, his focus, his passion and his build and it brought back memories of my youth and racing. I was enchanted by RWB and having Nakai build my Porsche became very important in my life.
I contacted Toshi at RWB and told him of my passion for cars and my history with cars I owned and my strong desire for a RWB build. Everything moved quickly from there as my Porsche already was mechanically up to the challenge. It has JRZ Full Race suspension – which I feel is far superior to Bilstein with improved damping. It also has a DAS roll bar, RAID race steering wheel, Porsche 928 “big black” brakes, OEM RS Short Shifter and Linkage, light weight fly wheel, Billy Boat headers, custom exhaust and intake, Steve Wong custom chip, carbon fibre door panels, aluminum track mats and pedals and the rear seat is removed.
Nakai came out to live with me at my home for a week in February 2013. In this time we became good friends. I found Nakai was a humble man who prayed with me every morning at breakfast but also a driven man with a passion to build his RWB Porsches for people who shared his passion. He enjoyed that I had a number of performance vehicles and all were daily drivers. We shared a love of loud music and artists like the Smashing Pumpkins and Lou Reed. Nakai and I watched racing videos on my 160” screen – his favourite was “Super Speedway” which follows the Neuman Hass (Andretti) racing team. Nakai was leaning to the left and right while watching Andretti drive race cars on the track. We would sit together at night and watch the sea life and corals in my large reef aquarium. And each day we would go off to the garage I had arranged for his use and I would watch Nakai turn our passions into my RWB. I will never forget the night that Nakai drove my Lamborghini to a restaurant for dinner. There was snow on the ground and from the first corner the car was in full 4-wheel drift and continued to be until we arrived at the restaurant. He told me he really enjoyed it and it was the first time he had ever driven a Lamborghini Manual Transmission…
Peter’s Reef Aquarium
It took Nakai roughly 40 hours to complete the transformation of my car. All work was done by eye. He spent a lot of the time just staring at the car prior to doing work – he is truly a perfectionist. The wheel wells were hand sanded many many times for perfect fitment – the body panels are like they were added at the Porsche factory. I believe my car was the first to receive the new spoiler style – he wet-sanded the uprights to a perfect curve in the sink.
One day Nakai got up in the morning at my home and announced to me that the car would be called “Royal Ocean” based on the car’s colour and our shared love of the reef aquarium. My car was completed and now had a soul that touched me deeply.
I had Nakai sign the rear of my car and to my surprise he signed it Nakai #1. He also signed best wishes to Peter under the hood.
I sent a note to Toshi on February 8th saying that I will treasure Naki-sans creation for the rest of my life. I told him that I drove Royal Ocean at speed on a winding mountain road that night and it was flawless. I could not have wished for a better car. Nakai and RWB had surpassed all my expectations and I am proud to be the owner of Canada # 1.
As a driver I find my beautiful RWB Porsche is extremely planted regardless of speed and I feel far more secure and in control in my RWB than compared to my stock or previously modified Porsche 993. Thank you Nakai!
